Review || Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath

So we are now well on our way to Christmas so over the next couple of weeks I am reviewing products that make great presents for friends and family. SO basically I am doing a really really in depth christmas list! Hope that makes sense to you all! So the first in this so called series is a really favourite high end product of mine and it is the Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath.

The Honey Bath range comes in a 300g glass jar with a silver metal lid. The packaging is very minimalistic however still feels very luxurious especially as you can see the pearlescent Honey Bath shimmering through. It comes with a little wooden honey dipper, which is super cute. You just simply dip the dipper into the beautiful liquid and swirl it around in the bath. As soon as you unscrew the lid and remove the plastic cover the scent hits you. I swear down it literally smells like creme brulee! Once I have dipped I swirl it around about to catch the drips and then hold it under a running hot tap and watch the bubble form. If I want a super luxury bath I'll dip a second time and swirl the dipper around in the bath water.

After a bath my skin feels silky and soft, even after towel drying which often removes this feeling. Also your skin holds a faint smell of creme brulee which I love, but I understand this may not be to everyones taste. I like to light lots of candles and catch up on Great British Bake Off while have a lovely relaxing soak!

You can buy Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath from most department stores, I picked mine up from House of Fraser for £32.00 you can buy it online here. I am definitely going to try more of Laura Mercier Body and Bath products now and hopefully they will be just as good! Have you tried any of the products before?

11 Ways to Get you Lazy Ass Out of Bed

1. Get Enough Sleep
Sounds obvious but loads of us don't get enough beauty sleep. As a bare minimum you should be aiming to sleep for at least eight hours every night. Being well rested means you will free fresh and ready to go when you wake up!

2. Get into a routine
Our body's clock follows a circadian rhythm. If that rhythm is set correctly, you may be able to regularly wake up refreshed without an alarm, but if it is not correctly set you'll wake up feeling groggy or even sleep through your alarm altogether. Make an effort to get to bed and get out of bed roughly the same time every day.

3. Adjust to your sleep cycles
The average human sleep cycle is 90 minutes. Adjust the time you wake up and the time you go to bed so that you can sleep for a length of time that is in a multiple of 90 minutes (for example, 6, 7 &1/2 or 9 hours), and you'll wake up more refreshed.

4. Sleep Well
Sleeping for 8-9 will not help you so much if you don't get quality restful sleep. Here are a few suggestions to help you sleep well:
  • Get a comfortable bed
  • Control the temperature in the room
  • Reduce external noise
  • Abstain from caffeine and alcohol six hours before you go to sleep
5. Get the right alarm clock
Some people, including myself, need a very loud, harsh alarm. Experiment and find an alarm that works for you.

6. Position Your Alarm Clock
It sound daft but honestly this works for me. If you alarm is just next to your bed, you'll find yourself just rolling over and hitting snooze, and go back to sleep without even remembering doing so. I find if I have to get out of bed and walk across the room, I really struggle to go back to sleep. So I have started putting my phone away from my bed.

7. Set Numerous Alarms
If you are one of those people who not you up, set more than one to go off. I usually set one after another about 5-10 minutes apart.

8. Get a helping hand
When I was at Uni I lived with a couple of my course mates, so we'd all need to get up at a similar time to attend lectures. So we'd help each other out. We'd make sure that we were all up and ready to go.

9. Have a Drink
Drink some water as soon as you wake up, it stimulates the body and will help you stay awake. If you need something stronger have a coffee or tea.

10. Let the Light in
Your body naturally wakes up faster when it's light outside, so open your curtains. Or perhaps leave them slightly ajar when you go to sleep.

11. Wash Your Face
Splashing cold wash on your face helps your circulation start. Also means you can start your skincare routine.

What are your top tips for getting up early?

My Little Glitzy Secret

Hellooo There,

Recently I was contacted by a company called Glitzy Secrets asking me if I'd like to feature a stunning pair of earrings from their Crystal Collection.

I have to be honest I had never heard of the brand beforehand but after I did a little exploring I found that they are pretty big on the old blogesphere. Also I have to mention I was really impressed with the website, it was super easy to navigate around and looked incredibly professional. It took me a fair while to choice a pair of earring for the expansive collection (can view it here) finally I opted for the Graceful Charm Earrings.

I thought that the earrings are very versatile, hence why i chose them. I have been wearing them with a variety of attire, mainly casual as I have lacked formal events recently however I  did wear them to a late summer wedding and they looked great! In terms of comfort they are great, not heavy and actually good to sleep in (a few too many drink may have made me forget to remove them!). I feel elegant when they are in, the earrings just give an outfit that extra lux and class it needs.

They have an amazing website full of reasonable priced glitzy jewels so definatlt worth checking the company out!

Review || Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

Prepare yourself for a serious love hate relationship here my lovelies because I can't even get my head around this product! The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick have come to earth to seek me out and make me question my make up ability. Liquid lipsticks are nothing new to the beauty scene or me but this one from Bourjois I am having major qualms with. To be honest it really isn't that bad but allow me to rant and explain.....

Bourjois have released a eight-strong liquid lipstick line that delivers opaque colour in one quick sweep. First I need to point out I have only tried this shade, so my thoughts may not be applicable to the whole range. The shade I have tried is Nude-ist which when I swatched it in store was a lovely nude shade however when I apply it it is pink, so I don't really understand what is going on. The reason I purchased it was because I thought it was a lovely nude. But hey ho I have been trying to go with it. I mean its not even a subtle pink, it's bold it's bright!

The name 'velvet' suggests to me a lighter finish, but let me tell you once these have dried they are full on mattes with a bizarre powdery finish. Now I love this, I am a big fan of a matte lip. Layering is not that much of an issue, however after three coat I find the finish feels tacky on my lips. I actually struggle with the application of these products as I find they tend to bleed slightly despite the applicator nip being slightly pointed. One thing I will give to Bourjois is that these lipsticks do not budge. You'll have no Miranda Sings smudges to be seen her. They really do last all day. Anyway who wants to be touching up their lipstick all day? Not this girl!

The lipstick comes in at £8.99 each and like I said the range has eight shade and can be picked up in drugstores. So in conclusion I probably just need to try some more shades.

Cooking || Butternut Squash and Ginger Soup

Just a quick simple recipe of my favourite warming soup!

You will need:
1 Butternut Squash
1 tbsp of Olive Oil
1 leek
2 thumb sized piece of ginger
1 litre vegetable stock
1 onion
3 cloves of garlic crushed

Vegetable Chopping Board
Large Knife
Paring Knife
Ice Cream Scoop (trust me on this one)
Large Saucepan
Wooden Spoon
Food Processor
Measuring Jug (to make stock in)

Step One
Prepare the vegetables. The butternut squash must be peeled, de-seeded and cut into 1" pieces. I like to slice the butternut squash and the remove the skin, I also use and ice cream scoop to remove the seeds and stringy bits from it. The onion needs to be roughly diced. The leek simply sliced into half an inch slices and the ginger peeled and finely chopped.

Step Two
Heat the Olive Oil in a large pan.

Step Three
Add the vegetables to the pan and stir-fry until starting to brown.

Step Four
Add the stock and leave to simmer until the butternut squash is soft.

Step Five
Once soft add to food processor and blend until liquid.

Step Six
Season as required and serve.

I like to serve the soup with a couple of crotons and a little sprinkling of cheese.

Let me know how you get on. Send me your pictures on Instagram @DanniSaint

Review || Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm

Helloo There,

Now this might not come as much of a surprise to you, after the majority of beauty blogger fanatics have tried and tested this cleanser. I just simply had to try it myself to see what all the hype was about. I popped in Space NK while I was in London and snatched up the little tub of Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Face Balm. It contains the Moringa cleansing balm and a cleansing cloth. Being a bit of a cloth cleanser virgin I am stepping out of my comfort zone a little with this product. The cleansing balm totals at £36.00 for 100ml which is pretty pricey but I'll explain why I think it is such a great product, after all, we have to have a decent skincare regime to enable us to have a perfect canvas for our make up.

The balm itself contains moringa seed extract, vitamin E and wild sea fennel to minimise the appearance of pores. Mandarin, Orange and Neroli (nope I haven't heard of it either) to revitalise and rejuvenate as well as Jasmine, Rose and Cedarwood to aid hydration and conditioning of dry or dull skin. I also find it very calming on sensitive areas of my face. I adore the smell of the balm, it is subtly fresh and natural smelling. I whole idea of a balm I find very appealing, it took a couple of uses to get to grips with it. The cleansing balm breaks down all traces of make up and is safe to use on eyes too, it even manages to break down waterproof mascara and eyeliner!

When I first bought the product I was a little apprehensive about how long it would actually last me, but surprisingly a little goes a long way. I find a dollop roughly the size of a 50 pence piece will do my whole face, however if I have stubborn or a lot of eye make up on, it takes more. I can definitely see the product lasting a lot longer that I originally thought. I love the cloth that comes in the box, one side is a lovely soft flannel and the other is a soft muslin cloth which is still very soft on my skin.

Since I started to use the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, I have noticed a difference in the overall appearance of my skin. As I have really peculiar combination skin (oily here, dry there and just normal everywhere else) it seems to have balanced out slightly, the dry patches are definitely improving! I can also say that my skin seems to be better hydrated and looks a bit more radiant. I love using this balm on my skin, it almost feels like a treat at the start and end of the day. It is a very gentle and natural cleanser, I'd say it is suitable for most, if not all skin types. I'd like to thank Emma Hardie for taking my Cleansing Balm virginity and I must say I am well and truly coverted!

Have you tried any cleansing balms? Which is your favourite?

Review || Illamasqua Powder Blush in Naked Rose

I have had this baby in my cheek make up draw for a while now so I thought it is about time I shared it with you. I brought this back in December 2013 and I have not used another blusher since (seriously I am not joking)! It is just the most perfect everyday natural colour. My mum actually called it 'the girl next door colour' which made me chuckle but I can see why!

This blush is actually the only Illamasqua product I own, I am definitely going to purchase more just due to how impressive their blush is. The colour pigmentation and pay off is stunning, it gives your cheeks just a perfect dusting of radiants and flush. Illamasqua suggest the shade is a beige/brown but its far from it. It is pink when applied. I will be keeping this blush for a long time and cannot wait to purchase more products.

Is Feminine Hygiene a Taboo Subject?

As a blogger I am lucky enough to receive a great selection of  products and samples to review. So when I go home from Uni the other day I was chuffed to see another sample package had arrived. I didn't really know what to do when I opened it up and saw four bottles of Femfresh. I had to think long and hard about doing a post to suit them, didn't exactly want to do a review! I even spoke to my best friend about it to see what she would think! Then I decided 'screw it let do a post'.

So I have decided to talk about feminine hygiene in a rather broad sense. It is true that across most of the world the subject in hand is a taboo and a topic of conversation that most girls would like to avoid, myself included. But it is a very important topic and one females need to start paying attention to. Us girls have plenty of lotions and potions hidden anyway in our bathroom cupboards for all parts of our bodies claiming to do one thing or another. But what do we have for our intimate area? Often this area of our body can get overlooked by us using an everyday body wash, which can actually strip your intimate area of it's natural defences. I'm pretty sure we are all guilty of this! To maintain the natural defences women need to use a different wash because at the end of the day it is different. You won't use foot cream in your hair so why use a body wash down there! There are plenty of intimate care products of the market but Femfresh is the leading one.

Femfresh has been designed specifically to care for the unique pH of your vaginal area (word I never thought I would be saying on my blog!). All of the products have been gynaecological and dermatologically tested so have been tried and tested. If you are concerned about irritation from regular soaps and shower gels then try Femfresh products. They are suitable for all female of any age, who are wanting to improve or maintain their general hygiene down there. Femfresh products are great to use whilst pregnant as they are so gentle.

The new lines recently added to the range have certainly increased the appeal of Femfresh products. The in-shower washes range now consists of:
  • Daily Intimate Wash
  • Triple Action Deodorising Wash
  • Triple Action Soothing Wash
  • Triple Action Prue & Fresh Gel Wash
  • Ultimate Care Active Fresh Wash

They are all suitable for daily use which is great! Girls we need to start looking after our 'downtowns'. It is an important part of our personal hygiene. I know we arent exactly going to go into Boots with our friends just to pick up a bottle of Femfresh, but perhaps just slip a bottle into your next shopping basket. The products mentioned above are available from ASDA and Boots and retail between £2.99 and £3.49. They cost peanuts when you consider all the good things they do for you!

Stop being worried about people judging you and starting thinking about the most important person out there, yourself. Your hygiene is way more important than anything else! So give it a go also if you fill out your details on the Femfresh website you receive a £1 off coupon!
