Review & Swatches || Mac Lustre Lipstick in Sweetie

Now back in the summer when I just happened to find myself in Gatwick Airport I may have purchased A LOT of duty free makeup and perfume. I mean what else are you supposed to do in an airport! I picked up numerous items including this little offering from Mac. It is the Lustre formula in Sweetie.

It caught my eye as it was the most pretty shimmery pink in the tube. However when I swatched it I was presented with a beautiful easy-to-wear glossy pink. MAC describe the shade as 'a very sweet pink', the shade really does look a tad Barbie-doll esque. As you can see the from the swatch below it is sheer, light, pearlescent - basically everything I look for in a lipstick - and it is nowhere near overwhelming as I had expected.

I was even happier with the result when I applied it to my lips. Sweetie gives you a polished, gentle-looking, oh-so-slightly-shimmery, candy (but not Barbie) pink lips. The shade is pigmented just enough to show up and make my lips look slightly pinker than normal, but due to its sheer finish, the look is very subtle. For a more intense look you can apply numerous coats of the lipstick as it is very buildable. Basically I will never again judge a lipstick by the colour of the stick!

MAC lipsticks retail at £15.50 nationwide but if you are going away you can pick the up in duty-free for £12.00. HAve you tried any MAC Lustre Lipsticks? Which are your favourite colours?

Review || Benefit Gimme Brow

 Helloo All,

Hope you are well! Ever since I delved into the world of blogging have I really paid attention to my brows. I mean I used to pluck them and use a pencil occasionally but now I have a set routine and products I like to use. It was something I never really looked at one other people however it seems to be one of the first things I notice on a person now. Plenty of new brow product have been released this year and Benefit have not missed out on the hype with the launch of their Gimme Brow.

Benefit Gimme Brow comes in a teeny tiny little tube with an equally tiny brush applicator. I am freaking out over how cute this little wand is! The product is meant to give the effect of a fuller natural looking brow. The gel coats the each hair making it look thicker. Surprisingly I am using the light/medium shade, however I was matched by the consultant and it doesn't look light when on. I have been using Gimme Brow on top of my powder to set my brows and to make them seem thicker. However this doesn't mean that you can't use it as a stand alone product. It's kind of is a 3-in-1 tube of joy really, you get colour, thickening and setting power all in one! I really like the brush I think it is great and it allows you to get great definition and it is easy to control. This is a little gem of a product for me and I am sure there are plenty of others who will agree with me. Get yourself to a Benefit counter and let the consultant have a little play around and trust me you will end up picking up a tube for yourself! You can also buy Gimme Brow here for £17.50.

Review || Benefit Bigger Than BB Big Easy Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector

Helloo My Lovelies,

Hope you have enjoyed the summer! I feel a bit upset that it seems to be drawing to a close now! But god I am looking forward to late nights snuggled up on the sofa in front of the fire in my snuggly PJs and watching a feel-good film! I know now is probably not the best time to be reviewing this but hey ho, it took me some getting used to and I didn't want to give a rubbish review.

The product is question is the rather long named Benefit Bigger than BB Easy Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector! It's quite a mouthful. And the list of thing this foundation does is just as much of a mouthful! Over the summer months I have needed something that can keep my combination skin at bay!

There isn't really too much I can say about the packaging. It is pretty enough I guess but nothing special. It has a neutral stripe pattern circling the easy to use squeezy bottle. I love bottles with pumps as it is so much easier to control how much product to use for each application but I can happily report that I have had no spills or distribution problems with the Benefit Big Easy squeeze tube or nozzle. I think this has probably got something to do with the fact that the formula is fairly thick.

The Big Easy comes in six shades which seems pretty limited if you consider this a foundation however if you categorise this as a moisturiser/sheer coverage product I would be fair to say the shade are rather expansive. The great thing is that most Benefit counters are man so it is easy to get colour matched. I was matched to 04 medium.

The formula of the Big Easy is very creamy which I would usually associate with a matte high coverage foundation. I couldn't have been more wrong though! If I am being 100 percent honest with you I don't actually like the whole liquid to powder formula. Even though I have tried my hardest to get along with the Big Easy I just can't. I want to love this product but there is just something I don't really get about it! I can see why people might like it however for me it's coverage isn't enough and it drys my skin out terribly and clings to all my oily patches. I'm going to persist and try to play around with it a bit more using different brushes,blenders etc. I feel like Benefit wanted this to be a holy grail product, a all-in-one cream. I feel like it just hasn't worked out for them. And to be honest for just a tinted cream £27.50 is really expensive!

Have you tried the Big Easy? How did you get on?
